What do you think?

From The Examiner

President Barack Obama, Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Lenin are all featured on a billboard created and paid for by an Iowa Tea Party. The words “Radical leaders prey on the fearful and naive” are large enough for anyone passing by to read clearly.

Located in downtown Mason City, the billboard is being condemned by some tea party activists.

Shelby Blakely, a spokeswoman for the national Tea Party Patriots, told the AP that the sign isn’t appropriate. She says her group opposes any comparisons of Obama to Hitler or Lenin.

In an article on RadioIowa.com John White, state coordinator of the Iowa Tea Party movement, admits that the billboard crosses a dangerous line but commented that, ” White says he agrees that Obama has followed several of the same principles as Hitler.”

The Associated Press reported that North Iowa Tea Party co-founder Bob Johnson says the sign highlights what the group argues is Obama’s support for socialism. He says the pictures might be overwhelming the intended message.

What do you think?  Does it “cross a line”?  Or is it spot on?

  1. It’s spot on. It’s time to speak truth to power – no more backing down because the truth is controversial.

So you know these guys still believe and advise Obama to these beliefs and are telling all the Congress Marxists that they have to force these policies down the throats of Americans to save the world from Humanity itself , read that quote by Club of Rome top of this page link , http://www.green-agenda.com/

  3. The word imperium comes from the latin meaning having the authority to command citizens, Obama lauds the Centralized Collective Authority, King George III could just as easily had been the fouth character on the bill board. I believe in Natural Law, the individual and what once we called a federalist system. All of the above are statists, they are secularists who believe the government knows best. I can not see why anyone should be offended by the comparission. Either you believe in Natural Law or you don’t, if you don’t you are no different then any other potenate, princling, dictator, director etc. . . etc. . . etc. . . . Offended they are by exposure because monarchy, facism, communism, corporatism, national socialism are all variations on a theme. Speak the truth, be true to God, however you concieve of your relationship to Nature the souless utopians always fail in the end.

  4. I have had mixed feelings.
At first: Right on, Iowa has guts to tell it like it is.
then: just the ammunition that NAACP is looking for
then: NAACP is doing the same back to tea party
then: the swastika brings back harsh memories
then: but look how fast Russia and Germany turned
then: this is a war we are in, do whatever it takes to shock people into what could happen and is in the process of happening.
finally: they have guts, will do more good then bad

  5. Factually… the billboard is correct.
The only arguments about it would be KoolAide based.

  6. I have to say I had the same thought process as Bill Clark did. If it weren’t true, they wouldn’t be so upset by it. The ONLY complaint I would have is that it gives the left the ammunition they need to brand the Tea Partiers as “racists”. The fact that it isn’t true makes absolutely NO difference to the left. They will spin it anyway they think they can to make us look bad. But the TRUTH will come out in the end. It’s a shame they backed down and had it removed.

  7. My first thought was “this is out of sequence in terms of the educating the public as to the dangers of Marxism”.

I have not had a better thought yet. It’s not just overkill of the kind that can be easily spun against us, it’s also inadequate as a history lesson or an explanation of what the left is UP TO.

Today’s generation has no idea what Hitler did, what Lenin did. It really doesn’t ‘zing’ the message across. It looks more like silly fearmongering, bringing to mind old movies about oversimplified bad guys.

We can do LOTS better than this. Rather than cause the inattentive to pay attention and be properly frightened by the marxist lurch, this billboard reminds the inattentive of old b/w movies they’ve seen, oversimplified villains in war films, etc. Hitler and Lenin aren’t REAL for the inattentive. And the left can rightly claim we’re ‘trying to demonize’ them, because the middle and left/middle of Americans will see it as simple demonisation using simple villains.

The leftist impulse in mankind is definitely evil, definitely dark and dominating and yields TERRIBLE consequences. But educators have succeeded in raising several generations of kids who have no idea about those things.

The caption, at least, could have been less vague.
