. . . . .
NOTE: This post was originally published here at The Radio Patriot on May 14th. It’s been bumped to the top as today’s opening statements and trial begins.
We haven’t had a juicy trial like this since OJ struggled with the shrunken gloves and made Greta Van Susteren a household name. (Who ever heard of her before her daily trial commentary with Roger Cossack?) Even Anna Nicole Smith didn’t attract this much attention.
If you’ve been watching the news, even if with just one eye open, you know about Casey Anthony, the Orlando mother accused of murdering her two-year-old child Caylee Anthony nearly three years ago. The murder occurred sometime in June 2008, and the little girl’s body was not found until several months later in a wooded area not far from her grandparents’ home. The last time she was seen alive: on Father’s Day, June 15, 2008. Casey did not report her daughter missing for weeks, and it was only after the grandmother (Cindy Anthony) noticed a foul odor emanating from the trunk of her car a month later in July that she placed a call to police.
Jury selection is underway in a courtroom on the west coast of Florida, far removed from Orlando’s Orange County Courthouse. Intense media coverage of the crime has tainted any possible jury selection in O-town.
Once the jury is seated, the carnival comes back to Orlando where this trial promises to be a whopper. It has already attracted national media attention on network and cable channels, and that’s expected to grow, given the media and public’s penchant for a good “whodunit”. Trust me, this one is loaded with all kinds of twists and turns. Sherlock Holmes or Perry Mason would be chomping at the bit to solve this mystery. If I’m on the jury? I’d be writing a book and holding out for the highest bidder for the movie rights.
Local 24-hour news channel Central Florida News 13 (available only on Bright House Cable) has assigned a full time reporter to cover the trial. He’s posting blow by blows on Twitter and Facebook, and filing more in-depth reports on CFN 13’s website and 24-hour TV news channel. TruTV is running it, as is CNN.com/live.
The courtroom layout includes plenty of reserved seats for Florida TV, radio and print, as well as national media, including ABC, FOX, Headline News, MSNBC, People Magazine, Discovery, Newsweek, NBC, CBS, AP, Telemundo, and Univision.
The public will be allowed to fill the remaining 48 seats on a first come basis. Doors open at 5: 30 a.m.

. . . . .
I hate this girl. I feel awful for her parents… her father in particular.
How can you “hate” someone you don’t know? You can “Hate” the act, but to say you hate her is just weird. Also, have you forgotten that she is innocent unless and until she’s proven guilty?
Yes. I can hate someone I don’t know. It’s pretty simple really. Examples: I hate Bin Laden, Michael Vick, Hitler, Joy Behar, etc.
I am many things. And weird… well that could be one of them. As a mother, it is my instinct to hate Casey Anthony. No apologies. And if that makes me weird… then I will proudly wear that title.
As for Casey Anthony’s “innocence”… my hate for her not only stems from the act of “alleged” murder, but also from the non-stop table dancing Hoochie-palooza she embarked on after her daughter “drowned” in the pool. This is FACT. This is what Casey admitted to.And there is photographic evidence to soroborate this.
“Innocent until proven guilty”… That applies in the court of law. Not In the court of Amy. As a mother of a 4 year old, and as a human being, it is impossible for me to separate the actions from the person in this case. And I’m kosher with that 🙂
I must add… Please don’t think I can’t spell. I just can’t type on my iPad.
I’m sorry- and what exactly is going on with that forehead of hers. It’s hard not to ignore.
Great Blog, is there a radio station that is covering the LIVE feed of the trial anywhere? I know about the video feeds, but trying to find just an audio feed?

Here’s a partial rundown of how each Orlando station is covering the trial live online… click link above to find more. Good luck!
NBC-affiliate WESH (Hearst)
Through the early days of the trial, WESH’s streaming video has been the most reliable, which can likely be attributed to the station’s use of a YouTube player (image above).
Next to the player, WESH has a live feed of updates (powered by ScribbleLIVE) from its news team, including Jeff Cousins, the managing editor of WESH.com, and from the station’s trial-specific Twitter handles @caseyupdates and @judgeperrysays. WESH also has a 99-cent “Casey Anthony Updates” iPhone app available.
ABC-affiliate WFTV (Cox)
WFTV is using a live video player from Brightcove that has nearly matched the quality of WESH’s YouTube player. The Brightcove player allows WFTV to serve pre-roll ads every time a user presses play (WESH’s player is ad-free).
Below the video player, WFTV has live Twitter streams from the station’s designated Anthony account @CaseyAnthonyCh9 as well as veteran crime reporter Kathi Belich (@KBelichWFTV).
