Friday morning on the porch

Eric Odom reports the results of a poll taken by Grassfire that show Santorum with a healthy percentage of tea party support in South Carolina and Florida.

Grassfire Nation, the parent company of Liberty News and the Patriot Action Network, conducted a survey with tea party voters in Florida and South Carolina the day after the Iowa Caucuses. The results are very good for Santorum, very bad for Newt Gingrich.

The top three candidates ranked as follows:

SOUTH CAROLINA

  1. Rick Santorum – 46%
  2. Newt Gingrich – 23.6%
  3. Mitt Romney – 12.6%

FLORIDA

  1. Rick Santorum – 42%
  2. Newt Gingrich – 26.3%
  3. Mitt ROmney – 15.2%

What does this mean going into those states later this month? The Grassfire Nation press release makes some interesting points. Read them here.

However, Odom also posted a video that, once it gets out there and in the hands of his opponents, is NOT going to engender any love for Santorum with the tea partiers.

And in the Brass Balls department…

Stating the obvious — yet it’s good that someone in the Senate has found his cojones (you listening Mumbles McConnell?):

Marco Rubio has told Obama he’s making this a deadbeat nation

Rubio went on to pledge that he would challenge any further increase in the debt ceiling, arguing that “we [Congress] need to make it routine to actually spend no more than we take in.” In the letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, the Florida Senator said that President Obama’s upcoming request to increase the debt ceiling by a whopping $1.2 trillion will cause the nation’s public debt to surpass the $16 trillion mark.

“I will oppose your request to continue borrowing and spending recklessly.”
