Marco Rubio developing a taste for Kool Aid

Has the Establishment GOP made him a promise?  “Play ball with us now and we’ll support your candidacy for President in 2016”?

What is it with Marco Rubio?  Are his insiders slipping a Kool Aid Mickey into his drinks?

Conservative HQ, quoting from the Shark Tank, a popular Florida political online journal…

However, as our fellow Florida conservative, Javier Manjarres of the Shark Tank and Hispolitica observed, “What most people don’t know about Rubio is that he has always supported a pathway to citizenship.”

Some of this Manjarres attributes to the malign influence of Rubio’s Senate staff, which is a bunch of establishment Republican insiders, not the boat-rocking Tea Partiers that provided the manpower for Rubio’s upstart campaign against Governor Charlie Crist.

Javier singles out Communications Director Alex Burgos, a longtime amnesty proponent, as being particularly influential with his Boss on the issue of illegal immigration and amnesty for illegal aliens.

Burgos is no conservative (he’s a former Romney staffer) and his vitriolic attacks on conservatives are straight out of the Republican establishment’s playbook on how to alienate the GOP base.

Senator Rubio certainly needs to clear up whether or not his staffer’s personal support of amnesty for illegal immigrants is unduly influencing his decision-making process – and to do a little reality check if it is.

But the internal politics of Rubio’s office and whether or not he listens to the various Bush and Romney do-boys that he has hired to staff his Washington office are not our greatest concern about where Marco Rubio is headed.

What bothers us is that he has gone from simply disagreeing with his friends to attacking them, using the same tactics and language the left uses when it attacks conservatives.

As Erick Erickson of RedState observed, Marco Rubio has been an active participant in the attacks on conservatives as “racists, slavery supporters, bigots, haters, baby killers, un-Christian, etc. They are waging a coordinated attack between Senator Rubio’s office and others against conservative stalwarts like the Heritage Foundation and Jim DeMint.”

The “they” to whom Erickson refers appears to be an unholy alliance of establishment Republicans, business interests and New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, Illinois Democratic Senator Richard Durbin and a host of other left-leaning political operatives and interest groups.

To them, this is pure politics and they are backing the “Gang of Eight” bill because they see in it an opportunity to rearrange the electoral map in their favor for at least a generation.

These people could care less about the future of America and the American exceptionalism that DeMint, the Heritage Foundation and other conservatives (including we here at CHQ) are defending in questioning the “Gang of Eight” bill.

Unlike Jim DeMint, who supported Marco Rubio when he was at 10% in the polls, most of these people worked their heads off to defeat Rubio, and Tea Party candidates like him, in 2010. What’s more, they have nothing but contempt for the Tea Party and the limited government constitutional conservative philosophy Rubio allegedly shares with Tea Partiers.

There’s an old saying in politics, “Dance with the one what brung ya.”

According to the Shark Tank’s Javier Manjarres, Rubio recently told the political science class he teaches at Florida International University that in politics, you need to stay loyal to the people that helped you along the way. Perhaps, as Manjarres observed, Rubio needs to start taking some of his own advice.

  1. I keep asking myself, “Is it the Water?” I tell myself No probably not. Is the Left Wing that just that damned deceitful ? More than likely.is simply that. But think about this……Marco Rubio WAS one of the freshest, youngest bright Conservatives to hit Washington in quiet some time. Good looking and articulate he seemed to be somewhat Reaganest in even the way he walked. Then this Combination of 8 comes around and he walks away from it with this Liberal Agenda of Amnesty that he refers to as Immigration Reform. What in the hell goes on in Washington? Why do conservatives even bother to speak to a Liberal? Every time they sit down to try and hammer something out it always winds up with a a somewhat Liberal Agenda . If it is not going to result in a somewhat Conservative Agenda why even bother. Rubio better straighten up before he turns into another John McCain with a daughter named Meghan .

  2. Ha-Vee-R of Shark Tank is a sell out.He knew Marco Rubio’s amnesty policy in 2010 when the Senator was push on us and we were ignored. All you have to do is go back to the comments people were making at his site and he talked to people like they were stupid. But now when you cannot find favorable comment about Rubio, now the blogger is getting professional and objective. He still has not answered what is his relationship to Marco Rubio.

As for the propaganda that Marco Rubio is being corrupted by the evil republican establishment with promises ? First, you have been challenged to produce the list of establishment members in the party, but have not because the word establishment is just a buzz word to hang frustrations on,but be reminded to vote for these un-named people in the next election. It is just a pacifier to dumb down the long term memories of voters. The idea Rubio has been exploited by the evil democrats on the gang of 8,too is another puff of smoke to keep Rubio in rock star status in in voters minds.

There were more than 30 Thousand citizens running for office in 2010 and the GOP got in the tea party business ignoring the people’s voice and less than a handful of the People were elected. The same republicans got re-elected and we are still in the same condition that cause the People to rise in in 2009,but having continue in the same direction. There were 22 people running for the Senate in 2010 and all were heard about was Crist,Meeks and Rubio. We need to stop with Rubio and the Rock Star Legend Trash.

The GOP needs to stop the use of Saul Alinski’s methods of mind control because they have lost too much respect of,and the registered republicans at this point to ever recover.
