On the flight to Maine earlier today, I read the first few chapters of Congressman Matt Gaetz’ new book “FIREBRAND: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the MAGA Revolution,” a fascinating and horrific look at The Swamp as told from Gaetz’ point of view.

Of the many things that struck me about Gaetz’ candid observations is this passage about Trey Gowdy and Bob Goodlatte, both of whom announced they would leave Congress at the end of their term in 2018.
