The GOP big donors want Pence/Haley. They don't really care what voters want.
They pushed Jeb in 2016. And Paul Ryan before that. And Dan Quayle before that. Remember?

The problem for the GOP is that GOP voters now understand their own senators are playing a double game: praise Trump in public but sabotage him quietly.
Mitch McConnell has now told his Republican colleagues: he won't vote to convict President Trump. That means McConnell is finished as a leader. Why? Because McConnell wanted Trump convicted. This is his show. He pushed this sham until it was clear that he didn't have the votes.

I don’t understand why McConnell didn’t vote against Trump? The reason the lady tweeted doesn’t make sense to me. Do you think he made a deal or something? I’m afraid Trump is making too many “deals” with these evil people so they won’t get justice served…
He played both sides of the fence. He knew he didn’t have the votes, so he covered himself by voting NOT to convict. It’s pretty simple.
Yeah, that’s what she was saying, but… How could he be playing both sides when it’s extremely obvious he’s only on one side of the fence? I mean, even the most naive person can see that he hates Trump. Does he think people are so stupid they can’t see it? LOL
It is easy to play both sides of the fence when you do not have to expend any effort to get there. Mitch is the quintessential Post Turtle. If ever you see a turtle on a fence post you know that he didn’t climb up there himself, somebody put him there.
Mitch is bought and paid for and in league with those responsible for election fraud. He is behind the fraud that got him elected against against Matt Bevin and cheated Bevin against Beshear. Fraud, fraud and more fraud. Jail is the least Mitch should expect.
We should all begin sending him weather forecasts for Gitmo.
