Rush Limbaugh Has Died After His Battle With Cancer At The Age of 70
Rush Limbaugh, the monumentally influential media icon who transformed talk radio and politics in his decades behind the microphone, helping shape the modern-day Republican Party, died Wednesday morning at the age of 70 after a battle with lung cancer, his family announced.
Limbaugh’s wife, Kathryn, made the announcement on his radio show. “Losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life,” she said. Rush will forever be the greatest of all time.”
The radio icon learned he had Stage IV lung cancer in January 2020 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump at the State of the Union address days later. First lady Melania Trump then presented America’s highest civilian honor to Limbaugh in an emotional moment on the heels of his devastating cancer diagnosis.

“Rush was an icon, a warrior and a fearless voice for freedom. His shoes will never be filled. Rest In Peace. We will do out best to take it from here.” — Mike Pompeo
Such a sad loss, he was such a larger than life Patriot. Prayers for family and friends.
He will be missed. Listened to him almost every day. Such a strong supporter of Pres. Trump.
So so sad! I loved listening to Rush. He was a wonderful gift to every Patriot!!
Like a best friend, we spent countless hours together whether driving, working in the garage or just sitting on the porch. Hmmm this is a tuff one.
I read your lead sentence, “monumentally influential” as “momentarily influential.” Upon further review, I think Rush’s career will prove to be momentary based on the amount of work we have yet to do.
However, he showed us a way and others are picking it up and running with it. Not on syndicated national shows but a multiplicity of venues and audiences small and large.
He got us speaking to those he found. Those with ears to hear. I idid not listen every day, I couldn’t. But I listened as much as I could and appreciated his insight.
There were times when I did not see things as he did and that made him more valuable to me. A well reasoned difference of opinion is worthy of respect. There were not that many differences though.
As I understand it, Rush was a Christian and had trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. That makes his passing less of blow. Absent from the body, present with the Lord.
I am now looking for a Golden Microphone Award recipient. Mary Fanning? She does not have a show but gives voice to the truth.
I am heartbroken at this very terrible loss of such an intelligent, inspiring and wonderful man, who has taught all of us so many things. Rush Limbaugh has been our daily comfort, our news, our news examiner, our guide and our friend for such a long time. He was such a kind and caring man, who went way out of his way to help other people in many ways, always. Many hours could go by and he never seemed to tire of talking out situations and differing views. He had a facile and entertaining mind and used it to the very best and highest level every single day. I knew him only through the radio, so I knew he loved his beautiful wife beyond measure, and he loved God and gave God full credit for having loaned his talent and great communication abilities to him during his lifetime. We have several more very talented and wonderful people to follow in his footsteps. I know Rush will always be their inspiration. I cannot imagine a day when Rush Limbaugh would not be remembered for being the most honorable and amazing person with grand talents and for being the most loyal and respectful, and influential Patriotic American in our lives. Because he spoke to us nearly every day, he became our friend. I am so thankful he chose to spend time with all of us every day he could. He can rest now, assured that he is well loved and appreciated. I send my deepest heartfelt condolences to his amazing wife, his family, and all of his brokenhearted friends. There is a huge empty space in so many lives now that Rush Limbaugh is in Heaven. We have been greatly Blessed with his presence in our days.
What a lovely tribute to Rush Limbaugh! I think you have perfectly captured the sentiments of everyone who invited him into their lives every weekday for thirty years. Thank you.
