Biden hits crunch time on vaccinations
President Biden has less than a month left to reach perhaps his toughest coronavirus vaccination goal yet.

Biden’s objective is to give 70 percent of the U.S. adult population at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine by July 4, even as the pace of vaccinations slows and those without their shots are increasingly hesitant to get them or harder to reach.

Forbes is reporting:

Nearly 80% Of Vaccine-Hesitant Americans Won’t Get The Shot, Poll Finds — But U.S. Can Still Hit Biden’s 70%

Of the American adults who don’t plan to get the Covid-19 vaccine, 78% say they’re unlikely to or definitely won’t change their minds, a new Gallup poll finds—but enough unvaccinated Americans say they’re still planning to get the shot for the country to likely hit President Joe Biden’s goal of 70% of U.S. adults receiving at least one vaccine dose by July 4.

‘The demographics that are still most likely to be vaccine-resistant are Republicans (46% of whom don’t plan to get the shot), Americans without a college degree (31%) and middle-aged Americans (33%), according to the poll.

The primary reasons for respondents saying they won’t get the shot include concerns about its safety (23%), believing they won’t get “seriously ill” from Covid-19 (20%), fears about how quickly the vaccine was developed (16%) and a general opposition to vaccines (16%).

To spur more people to get the shot ahead of July 4,  states have been offering a wide array of vaccine incentives—ranging from million-dollar lotteries and free beer to giving away guns—to inspire those on the fence about the vaccine to get inoculated. Twelve states have already hit Biden’s goal of 70% of adults vaccinated, but many other states with higher rates of vaccine hesitancy still have a far lower share of people vaccinated—Mississippi, for instance, has the lowest rate with 34.3% of its total population receiving at least one dose.’
