If this war were not being fought, those in the situation you describe would probably be eliminated altogether and everyone else would be in that boat. We are at war, trying to save a standard of living, of very freedom, for ALL people world wide. Nobody is being willingly sacrificed.
I have to agree with this sentiment 100%, which gets lost among the chest-thumping. It’s similar to the schadenfreude trumpeted in ‘comments sections’, about how someone was so smart and so critically-minded to refuse the vaccine. I also refused the vaccine, but at the same time sympathize with the hundreds of millions who didn’t know better, or worse, who were coerced. They may suffer for this in numerous ways going forward.
