Have you wondered why Trump hasn’t cared about the Keystone Pipeline XL, that Biden cancelled in his first year?
Wasn’t that pipeline expansion painted as a KEY to our energy supply issues?
That was just “narrative deployment” to bash democrats and Biden.
Why is Trump completely ignoring the Keystone Pipeline project?
We never needed the Keystone Pipeline from Canada.
We produce plenty of oil on our own and that has been Trump’s focus in his second term.
“•Never before in America’s history has our Nation been more energy dominant: Thanks to President Trump’s policies, America leads the world in oil and natural gas production, producing at all-time records.
â—¦U.S. crude oil production reached record-high levels of output in 2025 at over 13.6 million barrels per day.
◦The U.S. is currently producing 24 million barrels per day in oil and liquid fuels production—more than Russia and Saudi Arabia combined.
◦The U.S. is producing nearly as much natural gas as Russia, Iran and China combined at 110 billion cubic feet per day.”

Canada needed the Keystone Pipeline expansion more than we did.
This exposes ANOTHER “narrative deployment.”
The very public fight between Trump and Canada.
Is Trump really being antagonistic towards Canada, or is he actually helping to make them great again in the FUTURE.
What did Trump expose?
Canada is “overly dependent” on trade with the U.S.
The Keystone Pipeline would have just made Canada even more dependent.
That destroys two things.
Canada’s “sovereignty” and “economic growth.”
But most people don’t remember the big project that began in 2019.
“Canada’s Trans-Mountain Expansion Project (TMX) came online in May 2024, following construction that began in 2019. By connecting landlocked Alberta oil to ports in British Columbia, this pipeline enhances Western Canada’s oil maritime export capacity, allowing access to new markets in the Indo-Pacific. It marks a first step towards much-needed diversification of Canada’s oil exports beyond the United States.”
So while the Keystone Pipeline expansion was being sidelined, Canada was busy building a pipeline that would supply Canadian oil to China and other Asian nations.
Diversification.
Decentralization.
“Amid Canada’s need for diversification, discussions around China’s role in Canada’s oil-exporting future have heated up. China is the world’s largest net crude oil importer, but it imports only about 1 per cent of its total oil from Canada. Since TMX became operational, China has become the top destination for Canadian petroleum in Asia, driven by strong demand and a pricing dynamic where Canadian producers secure higher prices compared to U.S. sales while Chinese refiners gain access to non-sanctioned crude at competitive prices.”
That new pipeline came online in 2024 and China has recently made trade deals with Canada.
“Canada and China signed on Thursday several cooperation agreements, including in the energy sector, as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney hailed “a new era” in bilateral relations during an official visit to China.
Energy, forestry, food safety, crime, and culture were areas in which the two economies pledged cooperation as Canada is seeking to diversify trade partners away from the United States in the face of the hostile trade policy of the Trump Administration.”
“The two countries also agreed to create regular ministerial dialogue meetings on energy, which are expected to be held every 12 to 18 months.”
China has cut its oil imports from the U.S. by 90% and increased its oil imports from Canada by over 20% year over year.
Step back and look at the bigger picture. Future trade routes make a lot more sense.
They are “strategic” and cost less.
Will it be cheaper for China to get heavy crude from Canada or Venezuela?
Canada.
And it helps to diversify the Canadian economy.
All “strategic” planning?
