The Homebuilts

On a sunny spring day in 1983, I interviewed several guys who were total aviation freaks. many of them were engineers who worked out at the rocket ranch (Kennedy Space Center), and spent their spare time building and flying these marvelous little machines.

Here I am, surveying the scene while my cameraman Dave McGuigan show some B-roll for the three-part series we were putting together. These photos were taken at the Merritt Island Airport, a neat little muni facility whose runway parallels the Indian River.
