“THE BLESSING” INSPIRES SONG
“HELLO MOM, IT’S ME”

by LLOYD MARCUS

Little more than a month ago, I wrote a post about an amazing event in my life — and that of my son Gary, the precious infant I gave up for adoption when he was just two days old and I was barely sixteen. Now a grown man, Gary and his wife Tami spent a day researching birth records and learned that I was his birth mother.Blessedly, I now have two children — Gary and my daughter Jennifer. My family has grown from four grandchildren to eight! (The photo at right is Gary at about 8 months, wearing a sweater lovingly hand knit by his adoptive mother Gail.)The Blessing caused an amazing reaction throughout the internet. Word spread beyond this site’s regular readers to others who posted the story at their sites, drawing visitors back here to read my post. Many of them left comments or wrote me privately to share their personal experiences or that of a friend or family member. Most thanked me, saying that my decision so many years ago and today’s outcome bolstered the argument against abortion.

Entertainer and song writer Lloyd Marcus, a staunch conservative from the Central Florida area, was touched by “The Blessing and emailed: “Your moving story inspired me to write a pro-life song today. It is the first song I’ve written in quite awhile. THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION”.

To my delight, Lloyd invited me to participate in the song. Another friend, former ABC Radio newsman Bill Larson made studio time for me to record my portion. My thanks to both gentlemen. So when you listen to the song, listen for me “answering the phone”.

I know you’ll enjoy Lloyd’s efforts, created with his producer and musician Frank Starchak. Here are the lyrics to “Hello Mom, It’s Me”, the most heartwarming words a mother can hear, whether its one year or 43 years later…

Hello Mom, It’s Me
by Lloyd Marcus

She moved on with her life
Divorced maybe once or twice
But she made her peace with it all
Then, she got the call

Hello mom, it’s me
Today I turned 43
Can’t wait for you to meet your grandchild
Mom you’re gonna love her smile
When you were young, in love & free
Thanks for birthin’ me

The angels you gave me to
Told me all about you
So just relax, cause I understand
It was all in God’s perfect plan
Cause you were young, in love & free
Thanks for birthin’ me

In high school, I was smart,
popular and fit, OK I za-gerate a bit
But I am a good dad and I love my wife
We’ve been blessed with a wonderful life

You were so young, in love & free
Thanks for birthin’ me
Thanks for birthin’ me
Thanks for birthin’ me
