Arizona – politically hotter than a matchhead

Live from Arizona… where the temperature’s rising, in more ways than one.

Lots to tell you today, so let’s get started.

Spoke with Elizabeth Letchworth of GradeGov.com, my regularly scheduled guest on Wednesday night’s shows.  And as much as I hate to, I had to cancel this evening’s program.  When I told her why, she understood, and you will too.  But before I explain it, let me first tell you that tonight’s topic with Elizabeth would have included discussion about rumors of the creation of an “army” supposedly embedded in the health care bill.

During our phone conversation this morning (at least it was morning here on the west coast), she explained what her research revealed about H.R. 3590 — the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Enrolled Bill [Final as Passed Both House and Senate] – ENR)

ELIZABETH:  “The provision simply amends the Ready Reserve corp which was created in 1944 during WWII. It has been modified repeatedly since reorganizing in 1949, 1966, and 1993. The cost contained in the Health Care bill is $17.5M per year for the next 5 yrs (thru 2014) to hire and train more folks in this reserve corp. ($87.5M total).

This money is really only a drop in the bucket when most states spend 10+ times this amount annually for their public safety.

I heard this reference talked about on Neal Boortz the other day. It is not the creation of a new “army or militia” but rather just a bit more money to hire and train more for the corps that was created during WW II and is under the direction of the Surgeon General’s office. The original concept was protection of hospitals so I guess that is why they were originally put under the Surgeon General. They are also outside the guidelines of the Civil Service pay scale. I am not sure why that is the case. All seems a bit odd and outdated.”

Elizabeth also shared what is potentially good news about the Arizona illegal immigration bill.  I’ll tell you about it, but first this…

Arizona Sen. Russell Pearce

Tonight I’ll be attending two events — a “Pachyderm Coalition” event in Phoenix during which I’ll meet AZ state Sen. Russell Pearce, author of SB 1070, AZ’s controversial illegal immigration bill.  The law mirrors federal law, which already requires aliens (non-citizens) to register and carry their documents with them (8 USC 1304(e) and 8 USC 1306(a)). The new Arizona law simply states that violating federal immigration law is now a state crime as well. Because illegal immigrants are by definition in violation of federal immigration laws, they can now be arrested by local law enforcement in Arizona.

Following that, we’ll dash to another event in Scottsdale — a small gathering of “influentials” at the home of Taser International CEO Tom Smith for Vernon Parker, one of 11 candidates for Arizona’s 3rd District US House seat currently occupied by John Shadegg.

OK — back to what Elizabeth told me about the Arizona immigration bill…

Senators DeMint and Vitter have introduced legislation to stop the DOJ’s suit against AZ.  Since legislatively, Congress can’t interfere with judicial matters as a general rule, the Legislation they introduced would prohibit all DOJ funding from being used towards this suit……….doesn’t this sound familiar?

[ASK: Yes. We have talked about this on my radio show — demanding that the 112th Congress next January vote to defund Health care and every other piece of legislation that we do not want.  As Elizabeth has pointed out a number of times, instead of repealing, the easier task for Congress to do is to “zero fund” the agency that is tasked to implement the law.]

Whoa!  Arizona businesses identified that hire illegals.

This information is contained in private email correspondence from some concerned Arizonians:

There’s a group of business owners in Arizona called “Wake Up Arizona” (see below) that have challenged the “Legal Arizona Workers Act (HB2779)” because they do not want to be responsible to assure their workers are in our country legally.

Arizona tax payers are paying to defend this law!

These businesses apparently like the cheap labor rates they can pay illegal immigrants, because it’s all about the bottom line. They apparently ignore the possibility they may be illegal when they can hardly speak English but can produce an ID with the name of Harry Smith.

The case is soon to be heard in the US Supreme Court.

In May of this year a raid of three or four McDonald’s produced 21 arrests for being in the US illegally and ID theft.  Illegal Immigrants continue to come North because they know these jobs are here waiting for them.

The only weapon the citizens have is to boycott these businesses and hit them in the bottom line.

If you look at the list below it is quick to recognize the fast food industry and car washes are the big offenders. Stop supporting them today, tell you friends to stop supporting them. Eat at home and wash your own car. Let this group know we don’t agree with them.

If you live outside Arizona you have the same problem.  Look at these types of businesses in your area and protest in some way, spread the word.

Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book.
“WAKE UP AMERICA” GROUP SUING ARIZONA SO THEY CAN HIRE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

  • Mac Magruder, owns McDonald’s franchises
  • Ray Arvizu, owns Arvizu Advertising & Promotions, a Hispanic marketing firm
  • Tom Barnett, owns Good Egg and Eggery restaurants and Burger King franchises
  • Steve Chucri, president, Arizona Restaurant Association
  • Jim Click, Tucson car dealer
  • Jerry Colangelo, former owner, Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Brian Day O’Connor, owns a commercial real estate firm and a carwash; son of former U.S. Supreme Court justice
  • Nicole Dreier, representing Burger King franchises
  • Barry Goldwater Jr., son of former U.S. senator
  • Danny Hendon, owns Danny’s Family Car Washes
  • Steve Hilton, chief executive, Meritage Homes
  • Gordon James, owns public relations firm. Wife is John Shadegg’s Chief of Staff and Gordon has done PR for John McCain
  • James LeVecke, owns Carl’s Jr. franchises
  • Jeff Moorad, general manager, Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Mary Rose Wilcox, Maricopa County supervisor, owner El Portal restaurant Was recently acquited on charges judge let her walk
  • Mike Whetstone

Some very interesting names on this list.  One in particular has been waltzing around on City, County and State subsidies with his Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamond Backs, Downtown Alliance, etc. etc.  The Audacity of Jerry Colangelo in this suite is unnerving.  Barry Goldwater Jr., never really has done anything that I am aware of on his own…that is.  What a shame that these so called pillars of our community would be suing us over illegals.  These are the people that are responsible for the problems we have and should be ridden out of town on a rail.  Then, right there is Mary Rose Wilcox who has been a demigod feeding from the public trough for as long as I have been in Phoenix…which is a very long time.

I think its time to vote with our dollars and boycott these businesses if they are intent on suing our state so they can continue to exploit the cheap labor the illegals provide to their business.

Hiring illegals is not only unlawful but morally wrong because they get hear via the human smuggling operations that are so prevalent hear in AZ.  What’s worse is these business owners are wealthy people…. and they are just greedy enough to not want to pay a fair wage.
The customer is king, stay out of these businesses and you will send them the only message they will ever understand. NO MONEY!

As busy as my host Barbara Espinosa is keeping me, I’m not sure I’ll be doing a radio show for the rest of the week… but!!! —– you ready for this???

On Monday night, DOJ whistleblower J. Christian Adams will join us to talk about the DOJ’s decision to drop the New Black Panther case of voter intimidation, and voter fraud.

How much is it costing you and me to fund federal programs that cater to immigrants — legal and illegal — who refuse to earn English?  Estimates range from $3 to $5 billion a year, according to The Conservative Caucus.

“During the massive immigration explosion, former President Bill Clinton signed an Executive Order that forces a Federally funded organization to cater to this new liberal voting block by providing services and programs in more than 200 languages.  If the Obama Administration pushes thorugh amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens, the cost to us taxpayers will skyrocket.”

Polls show 82% of Americans believe it’s time for the U.S. to declare English to be our official national language.  Yet Congress has refused to act.

Why?

Last Saturday, the president of the Orlando/ Orange County (Florida) Chapter of NAACP Randolph Bracy was interviewed on Monica May’s Community Connection radio program.  The interview is telling in that it illustrates and perfectly proves the point that Mark Williams (Tea Party Express’ former chairman) made in his now controversial statements about big government dependency.

I invite you to listen to the 30-minute interview here:  http://star94fm.com/av/audio.html
