. . . . .

The Washington Post is reporting:
House Republican leaders have begun courting moderate Democrats on several key fiscal issues, including a deal to avoid a government shutdown at the end of next week, risking an angry backlash from conservative constituents but aware that consensus within their own ranks seems out of reach.
The basic outline on a budget deal would involve more than $30 billion in cuts for the 2011 spending package, well short of the $61 billion initially demanded by freshman Republicans and other conservatives, according to senior aides in both parties.
This is far short of what conservatives and Americans who consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement are demanding.
What’s going on? What kinds of deals are being made? Who’s involved? Where are the pressure points?
Tonight, Elizabeth Letchworth, 26-year elected Secretary to the US Senate (now retired) is keeping up with the wrangling on Capitol Hill and she joins us help us untangle the game being played with our federal budget.
