House Speaker John Boehner, (right) Ohio Republican, and Republican Conference Chairman Rep. Jeb Hensarling (center), Texas Republican, listen as House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Virginia Republican, speaks July 26, 2011, during a news conference at the Republican National Committee on Capitol Hill. From our Capitol Hill Insider Elizabeth Letchworth, sent @ 10:26 PM this evening:

Looks like the Boehner and Reid plans were written off the wrong base line. They both used the base line from Jan. 2011 instead of the one agreed to in April as a result of the CR/Omnibus.This makes the savings/cuts wrong on both. Also, the ethanol tax subsidy was promised to be included in the Reid plan.Sen.  Feinstein and other Senate Dems (passed 73-27) are very upset. They were promised it by Sen. Reid.
The mistrust factor from both sides of the Capitol and in both political parties is very high. Both Leaders are seriously considering a 30 day straight debt extension. Stay tuned,
