What is a 302?
FBI’s Interview Report Form FD-302
Typically referred to as a 302. The form that the government uses to memorialize an interview. The FBI characterizes it as a form for reporting information that may become testimony. An FBI agent typically takes handwritten notes during a witness interview and later incorporates the notes and any additional recollection into the 302. The 302 typically contains:
- The name of the agent who wrote the 302.
- The date of the interview.
- The name of the interviewee.
- The place the interview took place.
- A description of what the interviewee said, either in narrative form or a recitation of the questions and answers (the description is not a verbatim account).
