“It doesn’t feel right”

From Charlie Kirk:

I frequently run into the take that conservatives should just throw up their hands and leave New York to its fate.

“They’re Democrats. Let them destroy themselves as an example to others.”

I understand the temptation. But it’s a mistake.

New York is arguably America’s greatest city. It is the nerve center for the entire global economy. It has America’s most famous sports teams, museums, buildings, and more. It is the global capital of finance, media, and the arts — and of course, that’s exactly why migrants and Marxists want to conquer it. New York symbolizes America to the world, and that’s why radical Islamists attacked it on 9/11.

All of America looks toward New York. When New York revived under Mayor Giuliani in the 90s, America’s other cities followed its lead. New York gave us winning policies like broken windows policing and stop and frisk. During the Biden years, Eric Adams kicked off the urban, centrist backlash against Biden’s open border policies.

New York shows the common man of America is with us. They acquitted Daniel Penny and Bernie Goetz. They swung more towards Donald Trump than almost any American city. Even in yesterday’s primary, the city’s low-income Democrats voted against Mamdani.

Last year one of my producer’s friends was violently attacked and mugged by one New Yorker, but she was rescued by another one who fought the attacker unarmed. God was willing to save Sodom if he could find ten righteous men in it — and New York has far more than ten.

Plenty of people wanted us to abandon college campuses as lost cause communist no-go zones, but we learned last year that if we bothered to fight back, we could turn the tide. New York can be the same way.

America simply giving up on New York is like the British Empire giving up on London or the Roman Empire giving up on Rome. If we won’t even fight for one of the crown jewels of our nation, then we deserve to lose it.

Charlie Kirk says it “doesn’t feel right” for London and New York City to have Muslim mayors

CHARLIE KIRK (HOST): What’s happening in New York City is an insurgency against the West. Last night, as we have been covering it more and more, Zohran Mamdani, a 33 year-old — only two years older than me — guy not born in this country — which is just fine — came here legally, and he wants to become a — I don’t even know if he is, is he a fully naturalized US citizen? I think he is. Again, that’s not relevant. He is? OK. He’s fully naturalized, but he wasn’t born here.

And Zohran Mamdani became a citizen seven years ago — got it — is a Muslim, which is part of the story. And I have been unafraid to point it out. But most importantly is that he is an anti-Western manifestation of the red-green axis. It is a manifestation and a blend of the two forces that want to destabilize this country.

Now, of course, the media, they lose their mind anytime I say that Islam is not compatible with Western civilization. But we have plenty to show for it. I endorsed Zuhdi Jasser to run for Congress. Abe Hamadeh is Muslim, and we endorsed him for attorney general and did a lot of work for him. It’s partially about that.

But it is very clear that Mamdani is wearing the costume to destroy the greatest — once greatest city and the largest city in America. And we must ask ourselves the question, and we have the courage to do this on our show — are you comfortable with both London and New York having Muslim mayors? I’m sorry. I think we should have a little bit of caution with that. That doesn’t feel right. I don’t need a chart. I don’t need a graph. I don’t need a peer-reviewed study. There’s something about having both London and New York, the two financial centers of the West, of the Anglosphere, both have Muslim mayors. And lots of other cities as well. One’s Calgary — and Rotterdam.

So we have to take a step back and say, how did we even get here? And is it a good thing? Some people say, oh, it makes no difference. It’s no difference that both London and New York have — potential Muslim mayors. I mean, one has Sadiq Khan is London. He is the mayor. And then New York City, looks like Zohran is the favorite to become the mayor of New York, and he is as bad as it gets. He wants to globalize the intifada. He wants to sanction Israel. He’s a legitimate antisemite, anti-Western. He wants to have city groceries, city-run groceries. He wants to freeze the rent, build affordable housing, creating city-owned grocery stores, fare-free buses. He wants to expand and protect gender-affirming care for all young people, which, of course, is at odds with his Islam, but that’s the point, is that the Islam is a means to the end of destruction of the West.
