Lulls & Glories

Lull: To cause to sleep or rest; soothe or calm. To become calm

Do you ever reach a lull, where you just want take a break from it all? Just for a day or two or even a week. Relax. Chill. Spend time doing something that brings you “happy.”

I do. I sometimes long for time to paint a picture (or a room), look at clouds passing over me, enjoy the sound of birds chirping and singing and nesting in my oak tree… you know… a vacation from all the twirling and whirring going on around us faster and faster.

We’re party to effecting the changes we’re witnessing. Do you feel like you’re being hurtled at warp speed to whatever awaits next? From the Tea Party to “infinity and beyond!”

Sigh…

Just meandering with my thoughts. Hope you don’t mind. Drop a comment and let me/us know how you find your “happy” amidst this tempest in time.

Morning Glories newly born, are curling into clingy tendrils gaining in height and strength. I check on them every day, marveling at their rapid growth like a proud mama. If it keeps up, pretty soon my mailbox post will be wrapped in green heart-shaped leaves and purple, pink, and blue flowers.

Morning Glory Inspiration came from Karole in Ocala, whose creative and artistic talent is superseded only by her love of Jesus Christ. Below, Karole’s flower garden.

Do you have a garden? Fruits, vegetables, flowers? All three? Send me a photo: Radiopatriot at Gmail dot com. I’ll show them off on this site.

  1. Just drinking and thinking. Not getting too wasted or anything, but just having some drinks and ruminating. It may appear outwardly odd, but I can sit at a restaurant and stare at the wall for extended periods, reminiscing, regretting, replaying past situations, planning, and preparing.

    Ahh, a little alliteration…

  2. It’s not flowers for me as it is for my wife.
For both of us it’s watching the dog walkers thru the window. It’s watching the various birds at the feeder right outside the window. It’s watching that poor, lonely, afraid feral cat we’ve named Smokey (because he’s gray with green eyes) come and chow down on the food my wife puts out for him. It’s feeding the raccoon we’ve named Zorro – a little guy who’s actually more trusting, more openly dependent on us for food. He actually comes to BE seen at the window Or he’ll tip over the cat food bowl on the porch -and when we go out with food he doesn’t run away in terror but just waddles about 4 feet ahead or sometimes almost beside my wife as she brings food to his bowl just inside the woods. It’s our other, original cat crew of 4 who are all getting old; been with us 11 to almost 17 years.
For my wife it’s playing an online game app.
For me it’s reading fiction books via the Libby app.

    1. Thank you for sharing what keeps you on balance. Sounds relaxing and very amusing. Also, reading fiction places one in a different world, at times a necessary and welcome mental trip!
