Short answer….NO!!! Sounds like an environmental disaster…..turning the area into a “crappy” place to live but great place to work…ugh!! I’ll put it this way after briefly thinking about it: I (we) live in St Augustine – a small, bustling crowded tourist attraction.
About 10 to 20 miles west going into more central Florida are small towns. Some along or near the St Johns River or even further west.
I’d rather live in a smaller, slower, quieter, more boring inland town than what the coastal environment is becoming at the speed of light.
p.s. I have no desire or intention of going to Mars.
No trips to Mars planned here either….I (we) live just outside of Ocala…..still very rural here although the developers are doing their best to build on every open piece of land they can get their hands on. This is horse Country, Marion County, so the equestrian community has alot of pull when it comes to developing…..which right now seems like a very good thing……it stopped the cancer of The Villages from coming this way so they went the other way to almost Orlando with their newest ‘town center’……no thankyou!! Really feel for the folks over on the Space Coast, not good.
We live in Ocala by OTOW (on top of the world). They are building out HWY 200 replacing old horse farms with car dealerships. The WEC (World Equestrian Center) is nice but is still building. They made zero accommodations for the people who live across the street from the WEC. I feel for them – whenever there is a major event at the WEC (which is all the time) the traffic is crazy. I don’t know how they run to the store for milk – they’d be in line to get home for hours. With regard to SpaceX I do not see any impact evaluation on the ocean/fish/wildlife/birds etc. Also, it will be interesting to see if the rate of tinnitus goes up. I hate that they are ruining our beaches.
Agree K….we’re in Summerfield in DWSCC…..Del Webb Spruce Creek…..hate having to deal with 200 as much as The Villages…..so we’re happy in our still pretty quiet (and totally built out in 2005) great community…..luckily we have many routes to get out and about w/o getting stuck in major traffic……your comment about the sea and wildlife is very valid….we worry about that here with all the orange groves, open fields being gobbled up and the burrowing owls/tortoises being affected and well as all of our land animals….foxes/bobcats, etc….and that WEC is turning into a nightmare for those unfortunate residents in that area….they call it progress tho…..:(
