Last night on the Blue Bus, we watched the movie Pay It Forward, in which the expression “pay it forward” was used to describe the concept of asking that a good turn be repaid by having it done to others instead. And it reminded me that what we’re doing with the Tea Party Movement is exactly that — we’re paying forward what our Founders gave us: the precious gift of freedom, fought for and won, enshrined in our founding documents — our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. And we’re not asking for anything in return, just that the next generation pay it forward too.
Reagan reminded us that “freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for And defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it, have never known it again.”
Hey! that’s me!
