The 1,200 National Guard troops expected to arrive Sunday on the southwest border for reinforcement won’t finish deploying until late September, federal officials say, stirring confusion and anger among Arizona lawmakers who thought the deadline was Aug. 1.
Earlier this month, the Department of Homeland Security said the troops would be sent Aug. 1. But now both the National Guard Bureau and the Customs Border Protection says that date was when they were directed to start ramping up their numbers.
Arizona lawmakers shook their heads in disgust.
At this point, Fox News – continuing in its not-so-subtle campaign to help him get re-elected, dragged out the soapbox upon which they perch the diminutive Sen. John McAmnesty in hopes of elevating his stature in the eyes of their viewers.
“This administration seems to promise a lot and then when you get into the fine print, it just doesn’t happen,” said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who has called for 6,000 National Guard troops.
McAmnesty — as you know — has done zip, nothing, nada to secure the border of the state that has elected him to represent them in Washington for 28 years. Will they send the “Military Hero” back to Washington yet again in November?

In 2006, when I was on the ballot for Congress, I met him in person. I was non-plussed.
That’s about all that I can politely say about him. (I know a guy that served with him on the Forrestal….)
A related problem is that I CANNOT IMAGINE HOW ANYONE can try to say that Sarah Palin is a conservative, when her views — on border security, on the no-end-goal war in the Middle East, on abortion, on monetary policy — are EXACTLY THE SAME as those of McAmnesty.
Everything bHo does is political, nothing done just for the good of the Country. It’s too early to send troops to the boarder, needs to get the full political force of sending them and making a big deal of it either right executive amnesty or the Nov elections, maybe both.
McAmnesty continues to listen for advise from his wife and daughter, not Arizona.
