The Associated Ministry of Orwellian Press

The Associated Press has issued a directive. From now on, the AP staff will no longer refer to the Ground Zero mosque as “The Ground Zero Mosque”. No, really…

AP writers are instructed to refer to it as the NYC Mosque or:

_ mosque 2 blocks from WTC site
Muslim (or Islamic) center near WTC site
_ mosque near ground zero
_ mosque near WTC site

We can refer to the project as a mosque, or as a proposed Islamic center that includes a mosque.

Atlas Shrugs’ Pamela Geller reminds us that this is not new, it is journalistic practice.  Stacy “The Other” McCain is calling the AP the Associated Orwellian Press. Or the Ministry of Truth.  Take your pick.
But I like best the new appellation Big Fur Hat has given the Ground Zero Mosque:

The Landing Gear Mosque.

What do you think?

  1. First & foremost, the fact that should lead on all these press releases from the “Ministry of Truth” or elsewhere, should be
the historical significance of the name chosen for the project,
“Cordoba House”. There is a long & undeniable precedence of
conquering Muslims building mosques to commemorate the site of an important victory; furthermore, in many instances these mosques are built atop already existing structures of
religious or cultural significance to the native peoples. Examples of this are Cordoba, Spain; Constantinople, Turkey; & Jerusalem in the middle east. The name given to
this building is not coincidental & that needs to be emphasized !
