“Man of the Hour” – Sal Russo of the Tea Party Express

. . . . .

I got to know Sal Russo during the three weeks I traveled with the Tea Party Express on its third national tour last April.  Very impressed with his knowledge, calm demeanor even in the midst of chaotic and frenetic days on the road.

Since the Tea Party Express endorsed Christine O’Donnell’s win last week in Delaware’s primary, Sal has been the man of the hour.  The media is seeking him out, curious about the guy who has grown the Tea Party Express into a force to be reckoned with on the national political landscape. So much for the quiet, capable and competent strategist behind the scenes who prefers to toil in the background away from the stage and spotlight.

In the few days since last Tuesday’s primary, Sal has been the subject of several media profiles. Today, it’s the New York Times performing the dissection of who makes the TPX tick.

Sal Russo is the heart and brains behind TPX’ success, and together with TPX-Our Country Deserves Better PAC principal team member Joe Wierzbicki, the two are a formidable Batman and Robin, slaying political Jokers on the Left and the Right.

Last April while we were making our way on TPX’ three buses somewhere through Arizona, Sal talked about the Tea Party movement with PJTV’s Danika Quinn.  It was a great interview.  In Sal’s own words he defined the tea party movement, how it transcends political parties, reflects the discontent of the majority of Americans, and where he sees it heading after November.    Regardless of what media like the NYT writes about him, this video is the definitive Sal Russo. Trust me on this.

Meanwhile, you know you’ve got ’em on the run when the NYT runs a piece like this:

Obama Advisers Weigh Ad Assault Against the G.O.P.

President Obama’s political advisers, looking for ways to help Democrats and alter the course of the midterm elections in the final weeks, are considering a national advertising campaign that would cast the Republican Party as all but taken over by Tea Party extremists, people involved in the discussion said.
