Disciplined. Cool. Focused. Thorough. Determined. Pragmatic. Logical. Wise. Subtle. Quick witted. Curious. Discreet. Analytical. Skeptical. Independent. Soft spoken. Loyal. Laconic. Low key. A friend. A fellow patriot. A winning hand, ace high. Travelin’ at 55, it’s how he rolls. Today we’re celebrating his special day.
Happy Birthday Dave!

Happy Birthday, Dave!
Today is also — on the Western calendar — the 32nd anniversary of the Iranian Revolution, after which the current Cairo uprising is patterned (complete with a leader returning from foreign exile).
(I remember the date, because it is also the day that I started my combat training. We paid keen attention, thinking that we might get sent to Iran as soon as we graduated.)
Seven months later, on 04 Nov 1979, Iranian revolutionaries took over the US embassy in Tehran, holding 52 Americans hostage for 444 days … until the inauguration speech of Ronaldus Maximus.
Thx, Tom. Yes, the day is historic–at least my mom always thought so. Andrea made note of the bearded one’s return from Paris in this week’s Surfin’ Safari column over at WND. Instead of celebrating his return, however, the Iranian people should’ve celebrated my birthday instead–would’ve turned out much better, I think.
Nice beach art, Andrea. First Allen West, now me. And look what it did for WEST!!! Life is good, and this post made it even better. Thanks so much.
Dave was one of my first blogger friends many years ago when I started out. He was unfailingly courteous and kind and is a real treasure to have as a blog-friend or any kind of friend.
Many happy returns you wonderful human treasure!
Happy Birthday Dave!
Eat that cake before it gets sandy. Or worse yet, bombed by seagulls!
