. . . . .

About 20 minutes ago I turned off my radio. Glenn Beck’s sidekicks Pat and Stu were back on the “birther” thing again, having a field day guffawing and insulting anyone and everyone who is “questioning with boldness”.
I’m done. I’m done with the idiocy that passes for “the fusion of entertainment and enlightenment”.
Beck and his sidekicks are hurting themselves – i.e. ratings and credibility – by throwing this issue in the face of a good number of their audience. In fact, I’d say — based on a sampling of the number of comments left at The Blaze — it’s at least 60 percent of their audience as evidenced by three-to-one comments in favor of pursuing the truth about Obama’s origins.
Of the 212 comments I sampled (out of 874 at the site):
137 were in favor of pursuing the eligibility truth.
44 were against (several of them written by obvious trolls).
The remainder (31) had no position (not sure why they even bothered to weigh in?)
As is the case on lengthy comment threads — and this one goes on for 20 pages — several of the comments were left by the same persons arguing back and forth. So my analysis does not count the number of people on either side of the issue, just the comments.
And like many of those commenters, I also don’t understand why Beck would:
1) Vehemently take an anti-eligibility position:
“Stop with the damn birth certificate! Stop! If you’re going to lose your country– we’re going to lose it on a birth certificate? You have a real opportunity to talk about American exceptionalism … instead you’re going to waste time on the birth certificate? You’re out of your mind if you think that is a winning argument for the next election. You’re out of your mind. You have to go fight the battle on the principles of America!”
A commenter responded:
“I would not consider myself to be a “birther” or “truther” – just a curious person who wants to know the reality – and there’s nothing wrong with that – but putting people like me on the fringe (like the DCCC is trying to do to Beck) is where the problems lie.”
2) Marginalize and mock two thirds of his audience who agree with the very principle Beck has espoused from the beginning: “Question with Boldness”. He hypocritically contradicts it when he claims the “birther” issue distracts from the more important ones and that it is unproductive. Why?
As another commenter wrote:
“I don’t get this?? Are people incapable of paying attention to more than just 1 story? Are people incapable of fighting more than just 1 fight? Just because people want the truth regarding the birth certificate doesn’t mean every single other issue is being ignored. This is a ridiculous theory.”
3) Beck claims that because it is an “unwinnable” issue we should stop?
Who says it is unwinnable? And why? Arizona just yesterday passed legislation REQUIRING any future candidate for president to provide the necessary paperwork that proves he or she is constitutionally eligible. It is winnable. Saying it isn’t only makes it that much more difficult for those who are questioning Obama’s legitimacy “with boldness”. And it puts Beck in the same category as Republican establishment types like Karl Rove, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and Fred Barnes et al.
4) We already know that Obama is a usurper under Article II Section 1 — his father was a Kenyan and British subject, thereby nullifying Obama’s status as a “natural born citizen” as required by our Constitution. He’s already in office illegally. Barack Obama/Barry Soetoro is a foreign national.
I could go on, but you get the point.
Evidently Beck and his cohorts do not. Why do they continue to push against and quite frankly, use Alinsky tactics of mockery and derision to dissuade their audience to cease and desist? It is a mystery to me and many others. It is confusing.
“You’re off here, Glenn. Not because you don‘t think there’s anything to the birther issue — you‘re off because you don’t think obama’s citizenship should be with-out-a-doubt determined. Too much about obama has been swept under the rug and because it’s under the rug, folks are expected to just accept and leave it there.
Intelligent people ask questions. Intelligent people keep asking questions until they are answered. If obama has no official birth certificate, obama’s not an official American Citizen. If obama’s not an American Citizen, that‘s obama’s first violation of his many violations of America‘s Constitution and obama’s the fraud most of America believes he is. If obama’s proven to be a fraud from square one, obama‘s out of the White House and obama’s in prison or deported or? America’s not asking anything more of obama than America asks of all of her citizens.
America Has A Right To Know Who Exactly Is In The White House! That Knowing Begins With: Is obama An American Citizen? And, it goes forward from there! If obama’s not an American Citizen, America’s major problem is over! obama and everything obama is off of America’s playing field!
What I don’t get, Glenn, is why you don’t get it! It’s just basic detective work — ya start at the beginning! And, if ya don’t have the beginning, ya keep looking until you find the beginning. The beginning is usually where the answers are.
Message to Glenn: What’s the real reason you refute the legitimacy of this pursuit, Glenn? What are you afraid of? Who has put you on a leash?
Here’s an idea — why don’t you get out your chalkboard and show us why we are wrong. Apparently you’ve got the information, you have the answer. Get the Art II Sec I thing out and explain to us why this doesn’t make sense? Show us where we’re wrong on this issue? We’re perplexed.
Show us why the legitimacy of the foreign national who has his finger on the nuclear football and the power to send our men and women into war is not an imperative and important issue. In fact, show us why it isn’t the MOST imperative issue. Glenn? Where’s your boldness?
. . . . .

The “birther” issue goes directly to acceptance of this country being governed by laws
If we cannot sort that, the rest of policy, whatever way it goes
means nothing if law does not rule

I have never been a regular listener of Beck. I get his email and I have seen a few clips/shows posted by people.
I do NOT understand his position on the eligibility issue. It is completely out of phase with everything else he has been about. He is so hostile to it. It’s like he’s a different man on this issue–Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. It would be one thing for him to say he doesn’t think the issue has merit, but to vehemently OPPOSE it as he does? I don’t get it.
I have a hard time listening to his radio show with those two other guys always trying to make a joke about everything. It is really annoying to me. I like Roger Hedgecock in the afternoons and G Gordon Liddy in the early mornings and Rush in between.
