We came, we saw, we conquered.
About 350 Hudson-area (St. Croix County) residents came out to the beautiful Lakefront Park to hear and be heard. Fifty or so were protesting our arrival as we pulled in, yelling “Go back home!”.
Loved the tweet sent out by Eric Odom of Grassfire Alliance: “when you hold a sign saying “Astro-Turf” you shouldn’t be wearing a shirt you didn’t pay for”. Eric tweeted that Counter protestors in Wisconsin confirmed they were “coordinated” by groups such as Planned Parenthood, unions, etc. and protestors crying “special interest” at #teaparty stop funded by biggest union PAC in recall fight. Savor the irony…
I reminded them when I took the stage that I was home — this is America. The protesters were pretty vocal, but our sound system drowned them out for the most part, and they calmed down after all the speech-making when Kay and Ron Rivoli, husband and wife singing team ended the rally with “Freedom’s Not Free”. It was a brief moment when we all came together as Americans who support our men and women in uniform and those who “gave it all.”
