I’ve got my ticket! Tonight those of us who worked on the space shuttle program (and Apollo, etc.) will celebrate our successes with a final blast off party at Kennedy Space Center’s Visitor Complex.
We Made History!
Shuttle Program Celebration – Saturday, August 13th, 2011
The workforce at Kennedy Space Center has been a driving force behind the success of NASA’s Space Shuttle Program and it’s time to celebrate all that we have accomplished with a “We Made History” event! Current and former KSC employees and their families are invited to gather August 13th at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for a celebration complete with astronaut appearances, music and entertainment, educational activities, giveaways, and two aerial events-a military jet flyover and Starfire Night Skyshow.

UPDATE:
Veni, Vidi, Vici! These are photos of Kennedy Space Center’s Visitor Complex, an attraction that hosts more than a million visitors a year. On this evening, KSC space program workers were invited to celebrate the historic accomplishments of the Kennedy Space Center launch team and their families, bringing them together one more time at the close of our nation’s Space Shuttle program. I went with friends and former co-workers from aerospace contractor USBI (a subsidiary of United Technologies) and NASA. It was a hot muggy August night, but that didn’t dissuade an estimated 9,000 guests from coming out to enjoy each others’ company under a full moon — one that we landed on at the height of our national quest for “The Final Frontier”.
