Freedomworks, Tea Party Express, Tea Party Groups Agree… Mitt Romney Can Still Convince Tea Partiers to Support Him

Freedomworks, a Beltway/DC located group that heavily integrates its activity with the tea party movement, acknowledged on Bill O’Reilly’s news program they are willing to give Romney a shot. Matt Kibbe of Freedomworks was invited on the program to discuss Romney’s positions. Kibbe made it clear Freedomworks doesn’t support Romney’s key/core positions as MA Governor, but he also dropped this note when asked if Romney could ever get the support of the organization.
“If he would repudiate Obamacare/Romneycare, If he would take a stand on the budget, if he would get some specifics about where he is on these issues, I think he has a chance. We believe that he can come around, he hasn’t been willing to do that and we believe a press conference just isn’t going to cut it.”
Tea Party Express and other movement groups have suggested a similar approach. While there isn’t a single tea party organization that fully embraces Mitt Romney as a candidate today, many, including both Freedomworks and Tea Party Express, say Romney can convince them otherwise if he clarifies his positions, rebukes bad policy and embraces the movement agenda.
Like Freedomworks, the Tea Party Express and its coalition partners agree a press conference just isn’t going to get the job done.
The Tea Party Express has invited all GOP candidates to make their case at rallies throughout the Tea Party Express tour taking place this week. Mitt Romney accepted the invitation to make his case in Concord, New Hampshire. While it remains to be seen whether or not Romney will gain any support in the movement, he’ll get his chance on the rally stage during the Tea Party event.

UPDATE: Mitt Romney has also agreed to speak at a Jim DeMint event in South Carolina. Looks like he’ll be following Matt Kibbe’s advice by making his case there as well.

Mit Romney realized the People did not want his as president in 2008,so he dropped out and bought Clear Channell. This means Mit Romney is Rush Limbaugh’s boss.So Rush and the rest of the talk show media and now the Tea Party Express and all of the national republican tea party founded groups have been their marching orders. They are all paid or promised something no doubt.America has lost America because those who believe they know what is best has lost their moral compass and therefore their conscience.
“Only a moral and virtuous people are capable of freedom; the more corrupt and vicious a society becomes, the more it has need of masters.” – Benjamin Franklin
