ROE V WADE MOVIE: A TRUTH WHOSE TIME HAS COME

Five years ago, when I was invited to become an executive producer for the new and upcoming Roe v Wade movie, I was happy to sign on. While I knew it would be an uphill battle, I never imagined it would take half a decade to bring it to the video streaming services where many movies have landed since COVID-19 struck America in 2020.

As a team, which includes a stellar cast and some of the world’s finest talents in cinematography, we have swum upstream against the odds to bring the truth about how legal abortion became law in America. On April 2, 2021, the new movie Roe V Wade will open for public viewing streaming across popular platforms. The impressive cast includes Oscar Winner, Jon Voight, screen veteran Robert Davi and film star Stacey Dash.   Ms. Dash’s role highlights the work of Harvard-trained African American pro-life activist Dr. Mildred Fay Jefferson. Dash plays a leading role as Jefferson, the first black woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School. I play her mother, Guthrie Jefferson. I’m also an executive producer for the film.

I have the distinction of working with both Dr. Jefferson and Ms. Dash. I met Dr. Jefferson through Dr. Day Gardner. My good friend Day was mentored by Dr. Jefferson who was largely responsible for preparing Day to become a prolife leader.

I met Stacey during the filming of the movie. I was blessed about how dedicated Stacey was to researching Dr. Jefferson’s life while preparing to portray her in the film.  I’m so pleased that the story of unsung hero Dr. Mildred Faye Jefferson is finally being told. Stacey’s performance does honor to Jefferson’s legacy, which is rarely celebrated by women’s groups or African American groups.”Dianne Rogers of Brimstone Services, who is a cosponsor for our pre screening this week noted: “The film premiered earlier this month during the peak of Women’s History Month. Our little girls need to hear more about Dr. Jefferson.” Brimstone Services and Alveda King are cohosts of a private screening of the film this weekend.

Roe v. Wade is the second time Ms. Dash and I have appeared on screen together. We are also featured in the highly acclaimed romantic comedy “First Lady,” written and produced by Nina May.Roe v. Wade is a 21st-century American political-legal drama film produced, written and directed by Nick Loeb and Cathy Allyn. It serves as a dramatization of the 1973 landmark decision, Roe v. Wade, rendered by the U.S. Supreme Court on the constitutionality of laws that criminalized or restricted access to abortions. The private screening will be held on Saturday, March 27 at 4:00 pm at AMC Barrett Commons 24 in Kennesaw, GA. Seating is limited due to COVID restrictions.Registration is required. For more information regarding the private screening, contact Eugene Vigil vigileugene@gmail.com.
