A letter from the founder of the Conservative Party.

To our Party members and friends:

Why do it?

Next week, Tuesday, I will turn 92 years of age. Knowing of my many years of volunteerism at Conservative Party USA, the question rises, why do it? Why not step back and take it easy? The answer lies here, an answer I have carried in my mind for 50-60 years after first learning of it.

On April 23, 1910, Theodore Roosevelt gave what would become one of the most widely quoted speeches of his career. Roosevelt delivered a speech called “Citizenship in a Republic,” which, among some, would come to be known as “The Man in the Arena.”

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

Said another way, is an Italian expression, “The only thing you bring to your grave is your name.”

Said even one more way, is a lesson learned from an order of nuns of New Orleans,

“I am only one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something,
What I can do, I ought to do,
And what I ought to do,
by the grace of God, I will do.”

Our country is a wreck, led by misguided politicians, of BOTH major political parties. What they are doing now is not working. And we are losing out to the socialists/Marxists. However, there is a practical solution, which is to return to the limits and boundaries designed by our Founding Fathers.

It will take new leaders whose “place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
