Greetings from Hillsdale College. I write today about the beginning of two new initiatives. The first is what you are reading—an email that details some important and inspiring work recently undertaken on one of our campuses. These periodic updates will illuminate the meaning of the College by giving you a glimpse into its life and work.
The second initiative is a new educational project. On December 8, Hillsdale College launched the Academy for Science and Freedom. The Academy began out of concern for the recent and grave abuses perpetrated against the American people made in the name of science. It will combat these abuses by teaching about the free exchange of scientific ideas and the proper relationship between freedom and science in the pursuit of truth.
The Academy launch took place at Hillsdale’s campus in D.C. In attendance were the Academy’s three fellows: Scott Atlas of Stanford University’s Hoover Institution; Jay Bhattacharya of the Stanford University School of Medicine; and Martin Kulldorff of the Brownstone Institute, and until recently a professor at Harvard Medical School (you can watch their remarks here). Each is an accomplished man of science and a friend of liberty. Each understood from the pandemic’s beginning that the infringements of freedom prescribed were contrary to the scientific evidence, and ultimately worse than the disease itself.
You can read more about the Academy, its fellows, and its work here. Both Dr. Atlas and Dr. Bhattacharya have been featured in Imprimis, our monthly speech digest; their remarks can be found here and here. I am sure Dr. Kulldorff will be featured in some similar fashion before too long. What these men have to say is of pressing importance, and we are honored to work with them.
I look forward to updating you on this and other goings-on at Hillsdale College in the coming months. Thank you again for your support. I wish you and yours a merry Christmas.
Best regards,

Three great men of courage AND intellect!
These men are heroes and deserve tremendous respect and gratitude for standing up in the midst of so much defiance of science and logic! I emailed Dr. Atlas while he was at the White House and he responded. It blew my mind that he took the time to do that. Thank you!
