What will happen to inflation when the price of oil keeps rising?

When you consider what’s made from petroleum, what happens when the price of petroleum / oil continues to rise? Think about how that will affect your everyday life and the cost of things we’re used to using, wearing, eating.

Common Products That Use Petroleum:

  • Plastics
  • Ink
  • Paint
  • Shoe Polish
  • Nylons
  • Roof shingles
  • Novelty Candy
  • Cosmetics
  • Candles
  • Vaseline
  • Bug Killer
  • Ammonia
  • Tires
  • Asphalt
  • Crayons
  • Paper cups
  • Wax paper

The following is a partial list (6000 items):

Here are some of the ways petroleum is used in our every day lives. All plastic is made from petroleum and plastic is used almost everywhere: in cars, houses, toys, computers and clothing. Asphalt used in road construction is a petroleum product as is the synthetic rubber in the tires. Paraffin wax comes from petroleum, as do fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, detergents, phonograph records, photographic film, furniture, packaging materials, surfboards, paints, and artificial fibers used in clothing, upholstery, and carpet backing.

We Americans consume petroleum products at a rate of three and a half gallons of oil and more than 250 cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The world’s top five crude oil-producing countries are: United States, Saudi Arabia, our enemies Russia, Iran, and China. More than half — about 59.5 percent of the crude oil and petroleum products used in the United States — come from other countries.
Over one-fourth of the crude oil produced in the United States is produced offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. The top crude oil- producing states are: Texas, Alaska, California, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

Here’s a partial list of the earth’s natural lifeblood that keeps us an advanced, civilized world. Imagine where we’ll be without it?

    1. We are in the storm. The storm has not reached its crescendo yet. Hold on tight and make sure you have plenty of food and grocery items stocked up. It’s going to get fierce. We’re not through the worst of it yet.
