…of the midnight ride of Paul Revere.
~~
From “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere” – poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Second stanza
“‘…If the British march
By land or by sea from the town to-night
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light
One, if by land, and two, if by sea;…
Ready to ride and sound the alarm…
For the country folk to be up and to arm'”
Amen to that
I’ve visited the old north church and the lantern is still there.
Are we winning yet ??? I think I will fill the car with gas & go to the grocery store !!!!!
I love this! My Mother used to recite this and many other poems to me as a child. Haven’t heard it since then. Wonderful!
