We Remember

The Memorial Day post below was the last one my late show producer and friend Dave “ThirdWaveDave” Logan wrote before he passed away just a few months later.

Dave reminded us every Memorial Day of the sacrifice made by too many of our fellow countrymen and women.

Today I remember Dave and all who gave their lives in defense of freedom.

“We are the dead. Short days ago we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow.”

  1. We have several family members who are Veterans. We are proud of each one & that they all came home alive. One of my favorite uncles died about 4 years ago. He was like a comedian and always kept in stitches. He had a great outlook on life after returning from the war. Sadly, one uncle (not brothers) came home, enjoyed going anywhere $ everywhere but he had a drinking problem & ultimately died from that. I knew it was to make the horrible pictures in his mind. He had a wife & 3 children. He did want to do better especially for them but didn’t. Makes me sad to think of all the wars, the destruction done to countries and to the families of those who serve.

It’s Memorial week-end and we can certainly give thanks for their service, the ultimate decision. Short poem.

    Call to Duty

The call of duty, loud and clear,
    Veterans answered, with no fear.
Across the seas, in lands unknown,
Their courage and strength, brightly shown.

In the face of danger, they stood tall,
    United in their steadfast call.
Their journey, a path of honor,
In the annals of time, they garner.
