THIS WEEKEND I remember and honor my sister in arms ASHLI BABBIT

As we enter the Memorial Day weekend, please remember what this day represents. It’s not a celebration of our military or just a day to BBQ, it’s a day to remember those who paid the ultimate cost in uniform. Today, I’m remembering my former roommate, Lieutenant Mike Hodge, who died in an Air Force crash in Sicily.

My great Unclt Lloyd Moffett was POW in Phillipines. He kept diary hidden from Japanese captors while POW Told a friend where to find it before he got on OryakuMaru, where he ultimately perished. Diary came to Grandma early 70’s (Lloyd was her brother)… Family heirloom…..

They gave up 2 lives. The one they were living when they were killed in action and the one they never got to live , so we can live our own life in freedom

Memorial Day was established to honor and mourn American military members who died while serving. So many barbecues, picnics and celebrations will take place this weekend, but I hope that we all take some time to remember why this holiday exists. So thankful for our military members and their families who gave all for our country.
