Probably wishful thinking

(From my photo library. October 14, 2013)

The Space Coast (and likely most of central Florida) got a welcome and breezy break today from August’s hot, humid, thunder-and-lightning storms of the past several days.

A 15 mile an hour northerly (“moderate”) breeze blew in and with it enough of a cooler draft to send the beach sand swirling while giving us a taste of Fall and beautiful days that lie ahead.

It’s a tease, I know. The high humidity and intense sun are not ready to relinquish their hold on us yet. But another month and we’ll be welcoming October which typically brings shorter days and a shift from prevailing southern tropical breezes to a more comfortable weather pattern.

Late fall, winter and spring months are absolute bliss. I love, love, love when the jet stream whooshes in from Canada on an “Alberta clipper,” dipping down into the south with windy, chilly (and occasionally near freezing) temps. Sweatshirt and jacket weather. With bright sunshine, azure skies and sapphire blue ocean swells.

A walk on the beach earlier this evening was exhilarating, reminding me of cooler weather to come in the weeks and months ahead.

Until then, a brief stay in Maine where we’ll welcome the early days of autumn among the early gold, orange, and crimson leaves that will put on their annual show spectacular.

Just one request… please. It’s probably wishful thinking, but no hurricanes. We good?

  1. The northeast states are gorgeous really. The mountains of Pennsylvania, much of New Jersey, most of New York State, Vermont, Maine, New England.
We left the Hudson vacation region 7 years ago to come south. Don’t miss WINTERS but the colors of autumn, yes.
