A presidential election in Ukraine should be one of the immediate conditions imposed for any further discussions about long term peace agreements.
1. Have a national referendum to vote for a new president.
2. As part of this national election, have the eastern Donbasses, under occupation, vote on a referendum to determine their future (Russia must agree to this).
These are two conditions that should be considered as part of a longer term agreement, along with security guarantees, lifting of sanctions, trade relationships and some type of mini-Marshall plan for reconstruction of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian people benefit, Europe benefits and Russia and its citizens benefit.
Then maybe we can get back to furthering the geopolitical idea of a greater Eurasia that embraces a multicultural world where sovereign nations protect their own identities and culture against globalism’s overreach as well as promotion of bigger ideas of building stronger family units, increasing personal wealth for lower and middle class elements of each nation, all these, plus other must consider ideas, should be on the table.
Lastly, during the American Civil War we went through an election so when Zelensky gives the lame excuse that Ukraine is at war so he must maintain Marshall Law, he’s full of it. He declared marshall law because he knew he was at risk. His presidency is a disaster as is the war he continues to promote.
End the war and get a long term peace agreement in place. America can no longer afford to be distracted by the mire that Ukraine has become. And Europe needs to get over their perceived threat that Russia is going to attack further into Western Europe. They have neither the resources nor the will to do so. Get realistic and end this war NOW!
