The leaves have begun their performance, like showgirls kicking off summer greens to tease us with colorful maples, birches and oaks that introduce a pageantry of gold, deep orange, neon apricot, lipstick red and leathery-like burgundy, punctuated with dazzlingly bright yellows.
Temperatures have been chilly during the mornings but milder during the day.

It is raining tonight, a steady pour that soothes as we remain cozy in everyone’s favorite room, listening to the drops on the roof and trees.
Today I walked along my favorite route, the road that traces the Penobscot River.
A beautiful place to be during the last days of summer and harbinger of harvest time, the welcome of pumpkins plopped into wooden wheelbarrows, Old Glory flying on poles lining the road and Canada geese honking overhead.
It’s peaceful in this spot, despite a world that’s spinning ever faster. It keeps me centered, balanced. It’s just another aspect of being and living and loving Maine.
Below: Autumn’s bouquet.

Folks are already decorating yet we’re still 6 days from October!

Gee I didn’t realize HRC was in Maine 🙂
LOL… good one!
