Today the first healthy downpour of rain in three weeks. Yet despite a summer-long drought, nature is giving us a show.
These…. are beautifully bittersweet moments. Rain will bring down most of the colorful leaves. And too soon, too brief a moment, the spectacular feast for our eyes will be over. The Finale.
I video’d our yard as the rain rained, and raindrops sluiced down off the roof.
One week longer before a heavy rain would have been nice. But I am grateful… for the end-of-summer September fragrance of freshly mowed grass… for the autumnal display of pumpkins, apples, and the brilliance of October.
Our stay is now measured in days, not weeks. Soon the leafy show will be over, and we’ll begin “buttoning up” our home here to return to our home there.
