BlueSky

Bluesky is a decentralized social media platform that emerged as an alternative to centralized platforms like Twitter/X.

Initially backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, it was developed to give users more control over their data and online interactions. It operates on the AT Protocol, a decentralized framework that allows users to host their own data, customize their feeds through independent algorithms, and move their accounts across servers without losing followers or content.

Key features include:

  • Decentralized structure: Users can choose or create servers, promoting independence from a single controlling entity.
  • Customizable feeds: Users can select or build algorithms to curate their content, unlike algorithm-driven feeds on traditional platforms.
  • Interoperability: Accounts and data can be transferred between servers, enhancing user freedom.
  • Open-source: The AT Protocol is open for developers to build upon, encouraging innovation.

Bluesky gained traction after Twitter’s ownership changes in 2022, appealing to users seeking less centralized, user-driven platforms. It’s accessible via web or app, with a focus on privacy and community-driven moderation. For the latest updates, you can check posts on X or Bluesky’s official site, bsky.app.

This is just cracking me up (I’m easily amused). Government offices are all signing onto BlueSky – and it’s an “in your face” hoot.  I think this signals a new phase of “the gloves are off.”  Just wait til you see the White House introductory video… JC, Telegram
