I’ve slipped, and flipped and thumped my head and back. Slid and sunk and had up close views of rabbit droppings (coa coa puffs).
Tire chains. Oil pan heaters. Hard packed ice roads in Anchorage Alaska. Moose and bear sightings. In AK 3 years the winter sunlight was from about 09/1000 hours to about 14/1500 hours.
Every step was a crunch sound.
Mukluks, scarves, flannel long john, parkas, bunny boots.
Snow throwers, shovels, ice choppers, rock salt, roof rakes, coal stoves, pellet stoves.
Memories.

I spent 2-years in Antarctica as a Navy Aerographers Mate and aircrew man. Flew all over the continent and back and forth to New Zealand. It was all part of fulfilling a childhood dream when I watched the Wonderful World of Disney’s Adventure Land segments on Little America. Turns out I am also married to a relative of Admiral Byrd. She’s Irish and cute. Cold WX is fine by me.
