So this coming week’s column — Surfin’ Safari — is written and ready to be sent off to World Net Daily for inclusion on its Diversions Page Monday night. Lord knows, we need a diversion from all the unsettling and worrisome events erupting around us like New Year’s eve bottle rockets.
Show producer Dave Logan pointed me to an article at American Thinker that I just immediately HAD to send out to my mail list friends. (If you’re not on the list and would love to get emails from me two or three or a dozen times a day, reply to this post and I’ll be happy to add you to the hundreds of other masochists who put up with my rants and raves).
Anyway, the article, written by Harold Witkov, and titled “On the Obama River and Headed for the Falls”, is such a stunning piece of work that I want to tell you about it here (in case you’re not on my mail list. If you’d love to be, see above for important instructions…)
Witkov describes where we’re headed, using the metaphor of a raging river that’s rushing toward a waterfall of epic proportions. And we’re on it, my friends. We’re on it — this fast-moving river. Rushing headlong toward a breathtaking drop that will push us under and onto the jagged rocks of totalitariansim, smashing into pieces our republic and everything for which it stands. Let’s let Witkov tell you in his own words:
Life has many warning markers. Some of these markers represent points of no return: where one must make a commitment so forceful that there is no turning back. The phrase “point of no return” is a poignant characterization of what is taking place politically and economically in our country today.
President Obama and his Democrat Congress are presently attempting to do away with our free-market system and the personal liberties we enjoy. Via a head-spinning series of sweeping changes and fast-paced “emergency” bills, they are doing everything they can to get us beyond the irrevocable point of political and financial no return.
In case anyone has missed it, allow me to point out the obvious. President Obama and the Democrats are taking over the banks and the auto industry. They are one step closer to government-run health care. In their sights is cap-and-trade taxing and amnesty resulting in citizenship for those here illegally. Not too far down the road will be the elimination of conservative talk radio. We have a trillion-dollar deficit balloon that is expanding and ready to burst. Our enemies abroad grow stronger and ever bolder.
Some days I feel as though the die is cast and our nation has passed the point of no return. There I am, in a barrel on the mighty Obama River, headed for the Obama Falls, with its jagged rocks awaiting me below. Of course, it’s not just me, but all of us.
Holy crap! And there’s more…
It seems to me that we who love this great nation have but two choices. We can give up and try to protect our own personal barrels, or we can hope we have not yet reached the much-feared point of no return on the Obama River and fight for the principles that our Founding Fathers laid out.
If we have not yet reached the point of no return — and I believe we have not — then even slowing down health care “reform” legislation (or other bankrupting entitlement foods on the liberal plate) can be a victory in that we have bought time. And time, as they say, is of the essence as we close in upon 2010 and the next round of elections.
Too often, I hear conservatives ask, “How can we stop what seems inevitable?” Now, I could respond to this question with a number of inspirational clichés. I could say, “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings”; “[We] have not yet begun to fight”; or “You cannot love a thing without wanting to fight for it.”
Instead, the best advice I can give is, “Pray as if everything depends on God. Work as if everything depends on you.”
Last chance advice from someone who understands that we are shooting the rapids in this raft named “Republic”, hurtling toward a precipice that will surely smash this Great Experiment into smithereens.
Are you among those who blow it off as “business as usual”? Or have you thrown up your hands, dropped your paddle and given up? Take a hard look at what we’re facing. The only thing stopping Obama and his Marxists is our Constitution. It is our shield. Our life preserver.
But who is defending it? Anyone in Congress? Hell no! Especially NOT Congress, because it would open up a can of worms. It would force them to admit they have violated the Constitution with every bill they’ve voted for. Let’s audit any of the bills that have been passed over the last decades, especially in the past year. How many of them violate the Constitution? My guess? Nearly every damn one of them. And both parties are guilty — Democrat and Republican. Especially the ones who’ve been warming their fannies and stuffing their wallets for umpteen terms.
Pres. Bush said TARP had to be passed in 15 minutes or the USA would cease to exist. (By the way, exactly how did Bush go from being the guy with the bullhorn on Sept,. 12th, 2001 to the guy who “Abandoned free market principles in order to save the free market”?) He set the table for these Marxist fools in the White House.
Do you trust any of them to uphold the Constitution? Do you??? Do you know what they have violated? Have YOU even read the damned thing? Don’t talk to me unless you have and you understand the limits it places on these criminals. Know what you are defending!
Forget the barrel. Forget the raft. We need a Constitutional life jacket and helmet. It is the only thing that will save us. Insist the Congress and President read it and follow it. To the letter. Beginning with We The People.

Great article. Here is a Creed for all American’s
The American’s Creed
by William Tyler Page
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.
I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.
