Remembering them on Pearl Harbor Day

. . . . .

I’ve been told that a coincidence is nothing more than a “Divine Appointment”, said by a Vietnam vet who served as the Pentagon Chaplain for a number of years.

So it isn’t a coincidence that a friend sent this today from the Marine Corps League. Consider it a divine appointment:

We are asking everyone to say a prayer for “Darkhorse” 3rd Battalion 5th Marines and their families. They are fighting it out in Afghanistan & they have lost 9 Marines in 4 days. IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE the message spread if more could pass it on.

Semper Fi, God Bless America and God Bless the United States Marine Corps… Often Tested, Always Faithful, Brothers Forever

Claire FitzGerald, Chaplain
Marine Corps League, Dept. of Washington

The Flag does not fly because of the wind that blows it,
The Flag flies because each American Serviceman’s last breath blows by it.

And from our friends at MOVE AMERICA FORWARD

Today is Pearl Harbor Day. The men and women of the Greatest Generation earned their name as such after the horrific and cowardly attack on Pearl Harbor during the morning hours of Dec. 7, 1941. Brave Americans rose to answer the call to fight back against the Imperial Japanese Navy and the Nazis, crushing those evil empires who wanted to conquer the world.

One cannot remember Pearl Harbor without thinking of 9/11, and every September 11th, we are unable to remember or think of 9/11 without comparing it to Pearl Harbor. Both are days which, as FDR said, will live in infamy, forever marking our past as a day of loss, regret, and determination to defeat our enemies.

Today, the NEXT Greatest Generation is now on the ground, in the seas, and in the air fighting Muslim Jihadists who brought war to America’s homeland on Sept. 11, 2001. Scores upon scores of patriotic men and women joined the Armed Forces after September 11th, and fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have sacrificed their lives, just as our troops did in World War II.

We must never forget. And still we must give our thanks to our living and fighting heroes. Today, please sponsor a special Christmas themed care package for our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As always, every care package full of coffee, cookies and Christmas goodies comes with a personalized note written by you, to the troops receiving it.

After Pearl Harbor, and again after 9/11, our troops fought fiercely to destroy enemies who threaten America. The cost of freedom is never cheap, it is paid for by the sacrifice of many brave young men and women who pay the ultimate price for our freedom. We must remain eternally grateful and show our appreciation to those who risk their lives every day.

It has been a long and difficult road for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan; they have fought so hard and sacrificed so much, but in that sacrifice they have won many stunning victories, and accoplished things they were told could not be done. For that we are grateful and blessed to live in a nation protected by such courageous individuals. Please remember those troops today, and offer your support.
