I just have to throw this out there. Trump’s lack of grace and poise grates on the nerves. I have tolerated it because I like Trump’s policies. The name calling and insults Trump hurls at fellow Republicans cannot continue.
DeSantis won in a landslide not because Trump endorsed him but because the people of Florida liked what DeSantis accomplished as their Govenor the previous 4 years. When any member of any party wins big in an election they get rock star status and will be asked if they will run for president. When this happened with DeSantis, DeSantis gave the right answer, he said he was focusing on being a governor. But in my opinion, if he wants to run, why shouldn’t he?
Trump of course could not be as classy. He called DeSantis an “Average Republican Govenor.” This may not seem like a big insult but remember this was after DeSantis won in a LANDSLIDE. Trump also had to bring up how DeSantis would not have won his first term if Trump had not endorsed him. With Trump it is Me Me Me Me all the time. He cannot seem to tolerate anyone else being celebrated or lauded for their accomplishments. DeSantis has not responded to any of Trump’s comments proving he can keep his poise and stay classy.
Now Trump is making fun of Younkin’s name. It sounds Chinese. Wow, can Trump ever learn to stop the insults. The Republican party is horribly fractured. We cannot seem to “speak with one voice” the way Democrats do. Trump’s name calling and insults are not helping.
I have been thinking back to the primaries from 2016 and the name calling by Trump was atrocious: “Little Marco, Low Energy Jeb, Sleepy Ben Carson…” I could go on but there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to all the names that Trump called people. Then there was the way he insulted Megan Kelley when she confronted him over the names he called Rosie O’Donnell. With Trump I wanted the policies and decided to overlook the “Mean Tweets.”
There are very important issues I want the Republicans to come together on. One of those issues is the education versus indoctrination of our children. The other issue is the War in Ukraine, I do not want World War III.
I also feel that we are being dragged into an energy crisis that could utterly destroy our middle class. These are issues Republicans can and must rally around. There is no room for name calling and insults. We need to come together and get it done.
The wins of DeSantis and Younkin are wins that we as Republicans can take pride in and come together to celebrate. Trump had to ruin it by behaving like a petulant little boy fracturing the party even further with a Maga versus other Republican mindset.
Trump will always have his die-hard fans but he will never bring the party together because he cannot refrain from being just plain ugly towards those he views as his competition or those who call him out like Megyn Kelly. Women are especially turned off by this. Republican women such as Candace Owens and Winsome Sears have expressed their openness to a candidate other than Trump. I decided last night I want that too, a candidate who shares the majority of Trump’s policies but without his ugly immature personality.
As I was typing this my husband was signing onto his computer and read how Trump was bragging about winning Florida by a million more votes in 2020 than Desantis did in 2022. My husband turned to me and said, “I really wish Trump would just go away.”
After this week I heartily agree.
I have a couple of former friends who have this identical uninformed opinion of President Trump. They are unable to see the forest for the trees, and have a very limited understanding of reality.
They are Die-Hard Democrat Communists who have a solid Marxist View of All Life, but would be insulted to the core if they were told that.
They have NEVER read a book on MARXISM or Karl Marx, and Never Will. They would easily find themselves on every page., but are mentally, emotionally and educationally, unable to do so.
You are watching a movie. Stop watching and come back in a few months. That’s what I’m doing. I’ve had enough.
