A full tape backup is done weekly, and a delta backup is done daily. The weekly backup is then placed into a vault off site. The weekly is never overwritten and is archived forever. You can hire this out, or do it yourself. But that’s called a best practice. The frequency is determined by a Contingency Operations Plan. Is short, nothing is deleted or stolen.
You think the State Department does not follow best practices? The emails are not on the “server” because they were deleted, they are surely on the backup tapes. Notice Hillary kept saying the “HEADERS” were not present – because she had her network guy that bridged the classified stream to the unclassified stream, remove the headers. This was a felony for every email cross-walked for everyone involved. They chose not to prosecute her.
