I’m leaving the pastel watercolors of winter…silver, white, all the grey in the spectrum, pink sunsets, and milky sun — to return to a different palette.
God willing, tomorrow I’ll be in a green wonderland with sandy beaches, rainbow colored umbrellas, intense purple, pink and gold sunsets, lovely flowers and the sparkling blue Atlantic. So posting will be light until Wednesday.
It’s bittersweet to be leaving my northern home with all its comforts. where we make memories every summer and fall, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I already look forward to my return after the snow is long melted and gone, and Maine is splendidly decorated in every color imaginable.
But today, my head is in both places. The Sunshine State where I can once again be outside with the sun and fresh air, and walk off winter pounds I’ve surely gained while hibernating indoors. Beef stew, thick clam chowder, and casseroles are surely comfort foods happily anticipated at the end of a cold snowy day. But they do nothing to shrink the waistline!
