George Webb never disappoints, and he always has the receipts.
How curious. The mention of the British OSS, parent of MI5 / MI6. The first thing I thought of, oddly, was the Beatles, that wild group from Leeds that rocketed to the top of the Hit Parade in the 60’s… who eventually came out with the ‘White’ album. Why would they write a song about the USSR? ‘Counter-culture’?
It’s no secret that our Clowns In America have a running illicit relationship with MI5 /MI6. Curious, anyone?
Then the ‘conspiracy theory’ that if certain songs were played backwards (for you young-uns, that could be done with vinyl LPs — that’s when “back in the day” meant much more than two-to-three years) the words would be about worshiping Satan.
WOW!
How, as old as I am and being a “boomer”, have I completely missed this? It blows me away… but I’m not surprised in the least.
Never in my wildest dreams — without exposure to outside information — would I have suspected what had taken place, “back in the day”. I always thought certain events were odd but, at the time of occurrence, thought they were coincidences. Why were so many musicians dying in their late 20’s?
The only one I gave second thoughts to was Jim Morrison. I didn’t know anything other than what the Propaganda Media said about him, but that event may have planted a seed in my subconscious. I thought it was definitely suspect, but like so many other teens just left it at that.
Guilty. I have to confess I was caught up in the day-to-day of the time. I never connected the dots.
I read a handful of pages of the Amazon reviews of McGowans’ book. It was obvious to me the tone of many reviewers who in one way or another let it be understood they were late to the 60’s through early 80’s party. Blinder vision and tunnel views. Critical thinking, absent.
Gen X or later, who still think they know-it-all and their minds are dug in like a stubborn mule.
Their offspring are the ones who have been drinking the woke Koolaid, sadly.
The ones who were likely boomers saw much, much more in what McGowan wrote. It’s sad that critical thinking didn’t get genetically passed on much to the post-boomer generations.
Gonna have to get that book, or finally break down and sign up for Amazons’ audibles. I think I still have a boomer tinfoil hat, somewhere.
That 40,000 foot view is gettin’ a bit crowded.

A Critical Thinking exercise Challenge to readers:
Listen to the song. Twice. Hey, it’s only 2:34 minutes long.
Tell us what you thought of the lyrics.
Taking in mind the related post,
https://radiopatriot.net/2024/04/24/echoes-of-laurel-canyon-cia-in-hollywood-part-one/ ,
and NOT what you just researched on the interwebz about it, what could be the potential meaning(s) of the song if there are any?
Was Paul McCartney influenced to write the song by an outside source?
Please leave your comments in a reply.
Thank you!

I always think about the lyrics to Hotel California… The really sad thing to me is a lot of these kids were sacrificed to the cause by their parents. After growing up outside the gates of West Point, having friends and going through high school with these kids and having to watch what they get put through, it really hurts my heart. In just 4 short years I experienced 1 (high school senior) suicide, a few major car accidents (one of which killed 4 high school seniors), drinking, drugs and rebellion. The Commandant at West Point was relieved of his position because his 2 sons (both in high school- one was my classmate) were so rebellious. As an adult and now knowing what I know sure puts a different light in the situation . This is back in the late 70’s.
oof…. that’s dark (lyrics)…. they all have meaning…. we are finding out daily!
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
“This could be Heaven or this could be Hell”
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here
Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain
“Please bring me my wine.”
He said, “We haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine.”
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling
The pink champagne on ice
And she said “We are all just prisoners here, of our own device”
And in the master’s chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can’t kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
“Relax,” said the night man
“We are programmed to receive
You can check-out any time you like
But you can never leave!”
they def were told to sing that (like most). super interesting lyrics… not to mention so many songs screaming at me now days!…

Oh, flew in by Miami Beach B.O.A.C.
Didn’t get to bed last night
On the way the paper bag was on my knee
Man I had a dreadful flight
I’m back in the U.S.S.R.
You don’t know how lucky you are boy
Back in the U.S.S.R. (Yeah)
Been away so long I hardly knew the place
Gee it’s good to be back home
Leave it ’til tomorrow to unpack my case
Honey disconnect the phone
I’m back in the U.S.S.R.
You don’t know how lucky you are boy
Back in the U.S.
Back in the U.S.
Back in the U.S.S.R.
Well the Ukraine girls really knock me out
They leave the West behind
And Moscow girls make me sing and shout
That Georgia’s always on my my my my my my my my my mind
Aw come on!
Ho yeah!
Ho yeah!
Ho ho yeah!
Yeah yeah!
Yeah I’m back in the U.S.S.R.
You don’t know how lucky you are boys
Back in the U.S.S.R.
Well the Ukraine girls really knock me out
They leave the West behind
And Moscow girls make me sing and shout
That Georgia’s always on my my my my my my my my my mind
Oh, show me ’round your snow-peaked mountains way down south
Take me to your daddy’s farm
Let me hear your balalaikas ringing out
Come and keep your comrade warm

Soundgarden Lyrics
“Black Hole Sun”
In my eyes
Indisposed
In disguise
As no one knows
Hides the face
Lies the snake
And the sun
In my disgrace
Boiling heat
Summer stench
‘Neath the black
The sky looks dead
Call my name
Through the cream
And I’ll hear you
Scream again
Black hole sun
Won’t you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?
Stuttering
Cold and damp
Steal the warm wind
Tired friend
Times are gone
For honest men
And sometimes
Far too long
For snakes
In my shoes
A walking sleep
And my youth
I pray to keep
Heaven send
Hell away
No one sings
Like you anymore
Black hole sun
Won’t you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?
Black hole sun
Won’t you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Won’t you come?
(Black hole sun,
Black hole sun)
Hang my head
Drown my fear
‘Til you all just disappear
Black hole sun
Won’t you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun
Won’t you come?
Won’t you come?
here’s a REALLY GOOD ONE!… read while listening!… Ouch!… this screams!
Led Zeppelin
“Stairway To Heaven”
There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold
And she’s buying a stairway to Heaven
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for
Ooh, ooh, and she’s buying a stairway to Heaven
There’s a sign on the wall, but she wants to be sure
–> ‘Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings <–
In a tree by the brook, there’s a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
Ooh, makes me wonder
Ooh, makes me wonder
There’s a feeling I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, really makes me wonder
And it’s whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter
Oh-oh-oh-oh-whoa
If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow, don’t be alarmed, now
It’s just a spring clean for the May queen
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on
And it makes me wonder
Oh, whoa
Your head is humming and it won’t go, in case you don’t know
The piper’s calling you to join him
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow? And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind?
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
And she’s buying a stairway to Heaven
