“I tried to explain this to a coworker who was talking about grocery stores price gouging…I have chickens we raise for eggs. We sell eggs locally. 4 years ago when we started, 50 lb bags of feed were about $9-10. They are $15 now. Gas is up, fertilizer is up, etc so the cost to produce the feed, ship it to the store, etc is up. They have to make a profit as well in order to pay employees and put food on their tables. We had to increase our egg prices from $3/dozen to $4 just to cover our increasing expenses. We might even have to get higher. Her mouth dropped.”
