Good Morning, World!

My friend Karole is gifted with an extraordinary and enviable talent that she uses to delight her grandchildren, comfort her friends who’ve lost a beloved pet, delight strangers who pass her way, but especially to the glory of God.

Karole has mastered the art of watercolor. Her creations amaze me. This morning she texted with her latest, a beautiful red cardinal.

“The cardinal is for a friend whose husband died. She said the next day a cardinal showed up on her lanai. Her mom used to tell her that was their loved ones keeping watch over them.”

When I showed this to my sister Nina, she echoed Karole’s story about the cardinal. In a quandary over a decision to retire and relocate from their home state in New England to Florida several years after our Mom passed away, she recalled:

“When we moved here (to Florida), we were talking and wondering what our mothers would think about us just retiring, buying a place here and moving. A few minutes later we were surrounded by at least 6 or 7 cardinals, so we took it as a sign from them that all was good.”

Karole painted a picture of a friend’s cockatiel, sharing this watercolor story:

“I have a friend (who is a staunch Trumper) who just lost her cockatiel. ‘Bunkie’ was 18 years old. She has no children so he was her baby. I painted this the other day.”

Karole’s friend framed the watercolor and had it on her wall in short time.

“By the time I walked home (15 min) she sent me this. She was so happy,” Karole told me.

Several months ago, Karole sent me her sunflower watercolor. I have it framed and displayed above my work table.

In the watercolor below, Karole used a newly developed Yin Mn blue pigment for detail.

“I splurged and bought some paint from Gallo. They have a color called Yin Mn Blue. It’s interesting. Apparently the first new blue in a long time. I’ll send you an article about it. Anyway, Gallo is in Italy and makes their paints with honey and rosemary- the old way. I’m excited to try them. 😊”

Karole delights in painting whimsical illustrations for her grandchildren. Like this one:

“I give them to my grands and I started doing my sidewalk (with washable chalk) so the walkers can have a happy…”

Her technique shows a delicate hand with a brush that not everyone has, and her watercolors are Karole’s way of honoring the Father of Mankind with her talent.

“I always ask God to use me to show others His light….”

“I really love when we can touch someone’s heart with our art. 💗”

  1. Beautiful! And how amazing that another blue has been discovered. M. Graham ( a British company) also makes their watercolors from honey. There is a movie on Prime called Seraphine, story of a maid in 1912 Germany who makes her own paints from nature and is discovered by the wealthy man she works for. It’s a simple film but just an easy story to watch if you love art.
