Driving along Rte 2 in Milford Maine, I passed this lovely display of pumpkins, gourds, squashes, and more.
“Oh wow! I said. “THAT’s a photo op!”
So I turned the car around and headed back. Turns out the “pumpkin patch” is grown and owned by Bill and Fran Mackowski, former owners of “Dawn ’til Done” Farm and Garden Center. Sold a few years ago, Bill and Fran still till the earth and bring forward prize winning pumpkins on their own farm. This 88-pounder won First Prize at the Windsor Fair! Fran’s 86 pound pumpkin took Second Place.
If you’re around these parts and you’d like to visit to obtain a fall harvest to create your annual pumpkin display, you can reach Bill and Fran at 207-631-9436.
Bill and Fran’s pumpkin garden and display is just three miles from the heart of Milford’s town center, beside the Sunkaze Stream which burbles into the Penobscot River behind the farm.
See and hear it in videos on my FB page. I’ve posted the best of the still photos here.
It’s feeling more and more like Fall, on this last Friday of summer! Ayuh.

Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins!

Lined up like soldiers!

Mid afternoon sun approaching the Golden Hour. Penobscot River in the background.

What can I say? It’s quite an array!

Woo hoo! 88 pounds of pumpkin, yessah!

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Pumpkin, the pumpkin folks who like to relax on the porch!

This colorful rooster is cock of the walk!

Pick a squash! Amazing shapes, colors, and varieties!

I just fell in love with this little homestead, decorated like a set for a HALLMARK movie!

Bountiful blessings! $2.50 each!

“Be your best friend. Tell the Truth. And overuse I Love You. Go to work. Do your best. Don’t outsmart your common sense. Never let your praying’ knees get lazy. And Love like crazy!”

Look at those colorful mums! THIS is a labor of love, for sure.

This is what greets you as you drive up.

Plenty of wood stockpiled for the cold months ahead, and plenty of pumpkins for you!

Photo op – take a picture of the kids with Spooky Snoopy!
